Restaurant Review: The Flying Squirrel, Montes Square, Duquesa

Tucked away in the charming Montes Square of Duquesa, The Flying Squirrel is raising the bar when it comes to dining out in Manilva. From the moment you step inside, the first thing that strikes you is the immaculate presentation of the restaurant itself. Without exaggeration, it is probably the cleanest restaurant we’ve visited not just in Manilva, but along the entire coast. That level of attention to detail sets the tone for what’s to come.

The staff are attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being overbearing, and above all, consistently professional. There’s simply nothing negative we could say here—something quite rare in the restaurant world.

But of course, the main event is the food. One of the exciting things about dining at The Flying Squirrel is the ever-changing menu. Not only does it change daily, but they also host themed nights every week, ensuring that no two visits are ever quite the same.

We began our evening with the Squirrel Snacks, a selection of four tapas-style starters that rotate regularly. On our visit, they included Chicken Gyozas, Chilli Beef hot snacks, mini Onion Bhajis, and seasoned Potato Wedges. Each one was perfectly cooked and packed with flavour—a delightful introduction to the kitchen’s capabilities.

For our mains, we opted for a selection of tapas. The homemade chips deserve a special mention—“epic” is the only word that does them justice. The BBQ ribs were another highlight, beautifully marinated, tender, and falling off the bone with ease.

Chicken skewers followed the same standard: perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of taste. To complement these, we enjoyed the garlic mushrooms and a refreshing prawn salad, both of which were excellent in their own right. What impressed us further was that every dish was accompanied by a crisp side salad, something not every tapas bar gives the same care to.

The Flying Squirrel is not just another restaurant in Duquesa—it’s a destination in itself. Impeccably clean, faultless service, and a kitchen that consistently delivers both variety and quality. Whether you’re looking for a casual evening of tapas, a unique themed night, or simply a restaurant that treats every plate with respect, this place delivers. We left thoroughly impressed and already planning our next visit. If you haven’t yet discovered The Flying Squirrel, make it your next stop—you won’t be disappointed.
